Chaos In Solitarity

Chaos In Solitarity

Solitarity was an experimental game I created in my Experimental Games class. The assignment was to create a "Bad Game" to help us practice creating small prototypes without worrying about how "good or bad" it is, and just getting used to experimenting in general.

I designed this game to be based off of Solitaire, a game I already think is bad, to create something surprising and annoying. Visually I intended it to look gross and bad, and I intended the game play to be confusing and pointless.

I found that I actually really enjoyed the chaos created by the game, and there was something inherently pleasurable with interacting with this game even if its entire construct of being a "game" collapsed very quickly. This game is here more as a reminder to myself to look for fun in interaction and not just strong game mechanics. People are much more easy to please than we may think.
